Yeah, I saw that.. Not sure if I have enough problems to justify a piston rig though.

Seems like you are just moving your cleaning to a different spot.

Edit: With a full auto, I would understand the need... The bolts get way too hot without the piston setup.

I was kinda wondering why they felt the need to do that.

It seems to be all the rage, everyone else already has one. It is the new fad in AR's (I guess everyone and their cow already have an ar, so there is a need to obsolete them in order to increase sales????)

Plus, stag makes so many parts for everyone else, they may have already had the manufacturing setup to make them so they figured, what the heck, slap a stag lower on it and sell it too.

Some places work better than others when they get dirty. I'd prefer a setup that doesn't crap where it eats.

I think it's great that the civilian market is continuing to tweak an aging US military platform. These kinds of innovations keep the AR a viable civilian arm.

Because the AR shits where it eats.

Wonder if they solved the bc/buffer tube interference issue.

Because all of the other guys are doing it. :wavey: It's probably a pretty easy change for them and it also opens up another market with very little capital investment involved. If it works well then this is a good decision for them. I don't see the need for a piston setup but I'm sure there are many that will disagree and Stag can tap that market with very little investment.
One really great thing about AR's is the ability to freakin change everthing without usually having to worry if the parts will fit if the manufacturers are different. I have to wonder if there is much interchangability in the BCG and gas systems of all of these piston uppers from different companies.

Stag rebrands parts for a bunch of the well known AR makers. So money is they were already tooled up.

They used to manufacture and assemble the S&W ar. Now I heard they don't assemble, but make the parts... etc etc...
